Raising The Bar In Sex Industry Outreach

Last weekend ZARZAND had the pleasure of attending a unique and incredibly well put together training on ways to reach out to and support the women who work in the strip club industry. Leaders of multiple organizations and companies as well as single individuals from all over the U.S. and Canada came together in Los Angeles for two days of intensive teaching and instruction. What was unique was to understand the vast majority of those in attendance had at one time or another, also worked somewhere in the sex industry at one level or another. It absolutely gave an additional edge of credibility to the impact of what all was shared and discussed and left no question as to the genuine nature of what was the underlying intent.  Impact.

The leaderships focus was not to equip those attending to swoop in and rescue, but as a higher priority, to impart a three fold message to those women they come in to contact with: You are loved, valued and have a purpose.

While the group who offered this training, TREASURES L.A., led by an ex-industry worker, Harmony Dust could very easily have spent the weekend pitching ways to woo those in the industry out, the team instead hammered down the need to approach EVERYONE in the industry with an extreme level of respect and honor. The result: Doors not only opening to relationship with these women, but in turn, also their club owners/managers, and even the bouncers, none of which implied any agenda. ZARZAND found that very refreshing and in line with our convictions as well.

This groups main focus happens to strictly be women within the industry, but their broader message is clearly transferable to ANY PEOPLE group, and it was inspiring as well as instructional. What our team also found novel, was that where as TREASURES does have an additional underlying faith message for those who incorporate that in to their philosophy, it was stressed to all those attending these workshops that no intention of masking a “hook’em and reel’em in” should EVER be implied when looking to offer support or availability to those who are the focus of your efforts. The goal is to communicate an open door to relationship that’s healthy, genuine in nature, and simply supportive at its core.

It would be impossible to highlight the pages and pages of notes that were taken in those two short days. I find myself now a week later spending additional hours digesting those notes along with the extremely well written training manual that was extended. ZARZAND would like to not only thank the entire team for the weekend (who quickly wrapped up the weekend event and then skirted off themselves to attend a training in NYC for their furthering education) but we would like to offer encouragement to the public in general in as far as considering this Non-profit as a turn to organization for ANYONE interested in ways to interact and come along side those in the strip club industry. BUT WELL BEYOND THAT, we’d submit that anyone looking to work with ANY PEOPLE group at large would benefit from the strategies and humble quiet instruction that this team offers. They train all over the world. They directly and quite dynamically affect thousands of lives daily. Their counsel is WELL worth taking.

A note from our President: As someone who’s had over 25 years of experience working with multiple sectors of the sex industry, trafficking, sex crimes, sexual orientation, PTSD, MST, sex offenders, familial support to all of these groups, as well as relationship & intimacy counseling, I am considered highly trained. I work in conjunction with all sides of these issues, and with no small number of groups. I am asked to speak to both leadership as well as individuals who’ve been directly impacted by all of these issues. I would HIGHLY encourage those with similar training, work & backgrounds to seek out one of these trainings. If you are in a ministry based group, no matter how long you’ve ran it and no matter in what position, do yourself and those you look to reach out to a favor, sign up for one of these weekends. If nothing else, you’ll walk away refocused, recharged and rethinking bits and pieces of what you’re able to accomplish.

Thanks for the resource. Strong recommendation with some of the key factors our company is looking for. As an ex-industry gal myself, I’d welcome hearing from others who understand the actual environment. Their focus to support rather than charge in and rescue is welcome, at least from my stand point. I wasn’t ready to be rescued for the longest time. That approach IS refreshing, I agree with you. We’ll look in to them,
Thank you, Karen Walker, Cincinnati, OH
